If I treated myself like my cat…
I’d hear “you’re beautiful” every day.
I’d attribute every good deed to a loving and caring nature and every less-than-ideal behavior to a logical and understandable reason (hangriness, for example).
I’d jiggle my belly and still feel perfect.
I’d give myself the care and attention I need and I’d make time for play just because I enjoy it.
Kinda makes me want to be a cat… since I don’t actually treat myself that way. And I would bet neither do you.
Instead, every mistake is confirmation of my incompetence and every good deed is only living up to baseline human standards.

How could you not love these faces?
It’s not that I have a perfect cat (I mean I do). The thing is, I have two cats. And while the other is different in almost every way, in my eyes, he’s also just as beautiful and good and sweet.
We’re good at being kind. Just not always to ourselves.
What would it be like if you treated yourself more like your cat or pup or bunny or turtle?
If you don’t have a pet, feel free to borrow mine.
To being better without beating ourselves up like Mike Tyson,
